Indianapolis Colts' general manager Chris Ballard will be back for his 10th NFL season.
However, during the first nine years, the Colts have experienced very little in terms of success, especially over the last five seasons.

So why did Colts' principal owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon decide to retain Ballard?
"We were all encouraged by our first half," Irsay-Gordon said, via Colts.com. "We experienced a lot of progress, which gives us optimism for the future and the direction we are heading as a team."
Irsay-Gordon also mentioned how Ballard adapted his roster-building approach last offseason, which included being more aggressive.
Irsay-Gordon believes that the early-season success that the Colts had can be replicated.
One area where the Colts have to improve is in handling adversity and finding ways to win. "Injuries are never an excuse," Irsay-Gordon said.

She added that Ballard and Shane Steichen wouldn't have been retained if there wasn't a belief that they could turn this team around.
The sense of urgency heading into 2026 has "never been higher," said Irsay-Gordon.
Under Ballard, the Colts have two playoff appearances and one playoff win. The Colts have no division titles and have not made the postseason since 2020.
