The New England Patriots are set to kick off their postseason campaign with a wild-card matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Before this game gets underway, though, the Patriots have found themselves embroiled in a bit of controversy involving the Philadelphia Eagles.
In recent years, when teams find their way into the postseason, they have worked on creating a catchphrase for fans to use as a rally cry of sorts during their playoff run. This was popularized by former head coach Bill Belichick’s “Do your job” motto, which was used frequently during the second half of the team’s dynasty in the 2010s.

In 2025, New England’s playoff motto is, “We all we got, we all we need,” which players frequently began saying around the trade deadline after the front office ended up not bringing any new faces to town. As it turns out, though, this is eerily similar to one of the Eagles’ old playoff mottos.
Philly’s motto back during its 2017 playoff run was “All we got, all we need,” so while it’s not exactly the same, it’s about as close as you can get. Making matters even worse, this was the year in which the Eagles beat the Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
Given how this motto came from the team’s own players and has been getting used for a couple of months now, chances are this was not an intentional move by New England. And at this stage of the game, it’s too late for them to change it.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a fairly minuscule issue that the Pats and their fans won’t be too concerned about. The main focus right now is on taking down the Chargers when the two teams take the field on Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET.
