Chelsea will face Manchester City on Sunday with a new coach — and without one of its most vital players.

Defensive midfielder Moisés Caicedo will be forced to sit out the match at the Etihad Stadium after picking up yet another suspension.

The Ecuador international was yellow carded just four minutes into Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, earning an automatic one-game ban for his fifth caution of the season.

Caicedo only recently returned from serving a three-match ban after he was shown a straight red card against Arsenal on Nov. 30.

Incredibly, Caicedo is also suspended for the Carabao Cup semifinal first leg against Arsenal on Jan. 14. The 24-year-old earned his second yellow card of the tournament against Cardiff City in the quarterfinal.

The bans have robbed Chelsea of a vital piece amid a tumultuous period.

That has left the club's under-21 coach Calum McFarlane in charge for the match at Man City.

McFarlane may only be at the helm for one match, with reports swirling that Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior is closing in on a deal to replace Maresca.

Chelsea went into the weekend in fifth place, 11 points back of third-place City.
