Monday was a bittersweet day at Commanders Park in Ashburn, Virginia. While the grind of a long and disappointing 2025 season is over, players cleaned out their lockers and said goodbye to one another and the coaches. It's expected to be a very busy offseason for Washington with over 30 free agents.
As the players came and went on Monday, general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn met with the media. But before Peters spoke to the media for the first time since training camp, he was busy signing several players to reserve/futures contracts.

In total, Washington signed 11 players to reserve/futures contracts:
G Sala Aumavae-Laulu
DT Ricky Barber
WR Ja'Corey Brooks
CB Tre Hawkins
DE D.J. Johnson
WR Jacoby Jones
DE TJ Maguranyanga
S Rob McDaniel
T Tim McKay
CB Darius Rush
CB Car'lin Vigers
Many of the names are familiar to most Washington fans, as each player spent some time on the Commanders' practice squad in 2025. Some were late additions, such as Aumavae-Laulu, Johnson, Hawkins and Rush, while most were a part of Washington's undrafted free-agent class. Maguranyanga signed with the Commanders out of the International Player Pathway program last December.
Reserve/futures contracts are non-guaranteed deals that teams often use to sign practice squad players to their offseason 90-man rosters. The contracts do not count against the current year's salary cap and are an excellent way to develop younger, unheralded players, or, in some cases, veterans who have bounced around.
