Another domino has fallen in favor of Michigan State, landing their sixth transfer portal commitment, having an incredible hit rate from their first weekend of visitors. The Spartans have landed the commitment of Louisiana Tech DB transfer Michael Richard.

Richard, a New Orleans native, has had a very productive career with the Bulldogs over the last three years. A 5-foot-11, 185 pound defensive back, he totaled 104 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 14 PBUs and 3 interceptions. He was the 2023 C-USA Freshman of the Year, and was also named to the 2024 All-CUSA second team.

Richard was scheduled to make visits to Colorado, Kansas State and LSU, but the Spartans got him locked in. He is someone that can play both safety positions, as well as the nickel position, bringing versatility along with his talent to the Michigan State defensive backfield.
