The timing of Kylian Mbappe’s injury forced many to wonder if Real Madrid would call back Endrick from the loan he recently was sent out on, especially given how bare the department suddenly looked.
Los Blancos, however, stuck to their guns and did not make any moves in that direction, understanding well that the player needs the loan to further his development.

Endrick is now playing at Olympique Lyonnais until the end of the season and is expected to see regular playing time at the elite level – something invaluable for a talent of his quality and age.
Endrick speaks on his departure
The young Brazilian striker spoke to the media in a recent interview where he opened up on his departure from Real Madrid in detail.
He began by answering a question on whether he plans to return to his parent club next season.
“Will I return to Real Madrid this summer or extend my loan at Lyon? Let’s not worry about next season right now. My season at Lyon is just starting,” he said.

The player then praised Xabi Alonso for everything he taught him and elaborated on how interacting with the Real Madrid manager helped him a lot.
“I spoke to Xabi about a lot of things. He won a lot of titles, and he was a world champion. He has a lot to teach and a lot to contribute.
“I want people like him to always help me. I also want to be a world champion with the national team, like he was with Spain,” he added.
Elaborating on how both Carlo Ancelotti and Alonso had the same advice for him – to leave on loan and accumulate minutes – Endrick said,
“Ancelotti and Xabi both advised me to look for playing time after recovering from my injury. They are two champions with winning careers.

“They’ve been through it all: victories, defeats, injuries, titles. You have to listen to the advice of people like them,” he added.
The player then spoke on how it was indeed difficult for him to leave Real Madrid and showed confidence that it was only temporary.
“Leaving the biggest club in the world, where everyone dreams of playing, would be difficult for anyone, but I’m not leaving. It’s just a pause.
“At Lyon, I’ll finally be able to play a lot of games, and that will also help Real Madrid,” he added.
He also showed great understanding of his situation at Real Madrid and why he struggled for minutes, something exceptional for a player as young as him.

“I arrived just after turning 18, and I scored on my debut in every tournament. Many things happened faster than many expected.
“I understand that people wanted me to play more, but I realise that it won’t always happen that quickly,” he added.
Finally, Endrick spoke on how he looked forward to his new challenge, saying,
“Lyon have everything I was looking for: the team, the fans, the coaching staff, and the opportunity to develop.”
