Happy New Year folks! I’m kicking off 2026 by forgetting that it was a Thursday and almost missing today’s Daily Bee (having also missed Tuesday’s). My resolution for this year is to forget the Daily Bee about as often as I did in 2025. Maybe a little more. Maybe even a little less?

Pascal Groß is heading back to the seaside after Borussia Dortmund and Brighton agreed a deal worth €3m to send the 34-year-old back to the club where he enjoyed the best years of his career.
It has not yet been decided whether Dortmund will bring in midfield reinforcements this month, in response to Groß’s departure.
