Adrian Barnes contributed a goal and assist, while Robbie Squier assisted on two goals. Barnes and Noah Terry were recognized prior to the contest on Senior Day.

Carson Holland, making his first varsity start in net, turned away 15 shots for the shutout.

“We played the best in the first period when we held a 17-1 advantage in shots on goal but couldn’t find the back of the net,” Saranac coach Robby Knowles said.

“Defensively, we kept them to the perimeter and didn’t give up any Grade A scoring chances all game. We blocked 17 shots in the defensive zone, and a lot of those led to offensive chances on the rush.

“I was glad to see pucks go in because some guys needed the boost to get going. Unfortunately, we took some undisciplined penalties, which puts a dark cloud over our performance. If we want to be successful in our league, we need to clean that up.”

“However, we have to find our offense and establish more Grade A opportunities to score. When your goalie is making the saves that are needed, we have to find a way to get a win for him.

“We had a power play with under four minutes left and had some good looks. We took a chance and pulled the goalie for an extra attacker at the three-minute mark, had them pinned in their zone but couldn’t capitalize on it. St. Lawrence sealed the win with an empty-net goal just after the penalty expired.”
