Nebraska defensive back DeShon Singleton not playing in Las Vegas Bowl

Nebraska safety DeShon Singleton will not play in Wednesday’s Las Vegas Bowl due to a recent surgery. The team made this announcement on Monday afternoon.

Singleton played a vital role in the Huskers' defense this season. He played in every game for the program and finished the regular season with 70 tackles, a sack, two interceptions, and four pass deflections. He was a key member of a young defensive unit that was inexperienced in several positions.

Singleton began his career as a freshman for the Huskers in 2022 and started the first five games at the safety position in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury against Michigan. He would come back to start all 13 games in 2024 and record 71 tackles.

Now, it looks like he will end his career in Lincoln, with his eyes toward the NFL draft. His athleticism and physicality could translate well at the next level. He certainly was a high-level player for the Huskers.
