Kamario Taylor injury update: Mississippi State QB exits Duke's Mayo Bowl vs Wake Forest

CHARLOTTE, NC — Mississippi State football starting quarterback Kamario Taylor exited the Duke's Mayo Bowl with an injury.

The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter after Taylor was hit low on a tackle while scrambling. The Bulldogs (5-7) trailed Wake Forest 43-29 at the time of the injury at Bank of America Stadium on Jan. 2.

Taylor was carted off the field with a towel over his head with 1:52 remaining.

Luke Kromenhoek replaced Taylor.

Taylor did not return to the game and was immediately carted off the field.

Luke Kromenhoek will transfer from Mississippi State

Kromenhoek is the backup quarterback for this game but announced his intention to enter the transfer portal afterward. The portal opened on Jan. 2, the same day as the game.

Blake Shapen, who started the first 11 games of the season, is not with the team. He opted out as he prepares for a professional career.
