Indiana football radio broadcast calls out ESPN personality Paul Finebaum

1 week ago 2

Like many Indiana football fans, the voice of their favorite team is living out a dream, and calling out other voices in the process.

Don Fischer, in his 53rd year broadcasting Hoosiers sports, called out ESPN personality Paul Finebaum while calling Kaelon Black's 25-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter in the process. "What are you thinking now, Paul Finebaum?"

Black's score gave IU a 31-3 advantage, one they've since extended. IU won its first 13 games, including its first outright Big Ten championship since 1945, en route to the No. 1 seed of the College Football Playoff. It made a statement in its first Rose Bowl since 1968.

Finebaum, 70, is host of "The Paul Finebaum Show," a four-hour show which airs on SEC Network daily throughout the week and takes calls from predominately fans of SEC teams. He is based in Alabama and started with ESPN in 2013, and his role has since expanded to appearances on "Get Up," "SportsCenter" and other shows.

Finebaum earlier this week picked the ninth-seeded Crimson Tide to win.

The ESPN broadcast aired Fischer's call in a replay of IU's first touchdown of the game, a 21-yard pass by Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza to Charlie Becker. Many appreciated ESPN for posting it and recognizing Fischer's commitment to calling IU games.
