Here's the ‘unspoken rule’ Lane Kiffin broke, per Shane Beamer

Lane Kiffin certainly has a history of rubbing people the wrong way, and he's been doing a lot of that in recent weeks following his ugly exit from Ole Miss to SEC rival LSU.

Now, it seems he's drawn the ire of another coach in the conference. At a press conference on Friday, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer addressed the departure of defensive ends/outside linebackers coach Sterling Lucas, who was hired to Kiffin's Tigers staff on Dec. 22.

Beamer explained that Lucas informed him of an LSU offer at 11 p.m. on a Thursday night, and by 9 a.m. Friday morning, he had accepted the job. According to Beamer, Kiffin violated an "unspoken rule" by not giving him a heads-up that LSU would be reaching out to Lucas about a position on staff.

"Little bit unusual," Beamer said, per Yahoo Sports. "Usually you get a phone call from the head coach of the school, giving you a heads up that he's interested in maybe talking to one of your coaches. That didn't happen which again, there's no rule that that has to happen, but it's kind of an unspoken rule."

The Gamecocks ultimately hired former Penn State defensive line coach Deion Barnes, whom Beamer introduced on Friday, to replace Lucas.

It could just be a case of sour grapes from Beamer, but it seems you can add South Carolina to the growing list of SEC schools that have beef with Kiffin.
