INDIANAPOLIS — Colts general manager Chris Ballard made it clear in his Thursday news conference that the team’s priority is to bring back starting quarterback Daniel Jones.

Jones is headed into free agency, but Ballard believes there is mutual interest for a return on both sides, and the Colts believe the quarterback’s torn right Achilles tendon will be healthy by the start of the season.

Ballard believes Jones can be the long-term solution the Colts have been trying to find at the quarterback position since Andrew Luck’s retirement.

“I’m looking at him near and long-term,” Ballard said. “I think Daniel Jones has a really bright future here in Indianapolis.”
