Sophomore linebacker Demarcus Riddick announced his intentions to return to Auburn for the 2026 season. Riddick posted his announcement on social media on Thursday, Jan. 1.
Auburn secures the retention it was looking for with Riddick returning to the program for another season. He joins Xavier Atkins in coming back to play for the Tigers.

Riddick's 2025 campaign was not quite like his debut season for Auburn. In his freshman year, he was recognized as an SEC All-Freshman. The previous year, Riddick dealt with a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the last two games of the season.
He will be entering his junior year and be looking to break out. Auburn defensive coordinator DJ Durkin will be pleased to see Riddick suit back up in 2026.
"He's got a very high ceiling," Durkin said. "He's got great length, and the ability to run and change direction. He's a guy that is a matchup nightmare when you're bringing him on pressure, because he can really rush the passer."
Auburn rings in the new year with some good news. The transfer portal opens Jan. 2, and the Tigers will look to fill in positions lost in the portal.
