Ryan Williams is no longer the only "Hollywood" on the Alabama football roster.
Former NC State running back Hollywood Smothers is the Crimson Tide's second NCAA transfer portal addition of the 2026 cycle. Smothers follows Oklahoma State tight end Josh Ford, who joined the Crimson Tide in December.

Smothers committed to Alabama after a weekend visit to Tuscaloosa on Sunday, Jan. 4, he confirmed on Instagram.

A former four-star out of Charlotte, North Carolina, Smothers spent one season at Oklahoma, recording 42 rushing yards on 11 carries.
Transferring to NC State in 2024, Smothers was one of two running backs with at least 89 carries, recording 571 yards rushing and six touchdowns, while adding 263 yards receiving and two touchdown receptions. He averaged 7.7 yards per touch.
While four backs had at least 100 yards for the Wolfpack in 2025, Smothers, 5-foot-11, 195 pounds, was the featured option, recording 1,128 all-purpose yards and seven scores while averaging 5.7 yards per play.

Hollywood Smothers eligibility: How many years does Alabama get?
Smothers redshirted his first season at Oklahoma, and played two full seasons at NC State. He has two seasons left of eligibility heading into 2026 with Alabama.
How Hollywood Smothers fits with Alabama football
After one of the worst rushing offense seasons in Alabama football history, Smothers brings a proven track record to Alabama's running game.
While expectations are high with five-star freshman Ezavier Crowell, Smothers brings experience to a room that returns 153 carries from the 2025 team in Daniel Hill, Kevin Riley and AK Dear.

Smothers also provides a pass-catching element to his game. He's recorded 452 yards receiving and three touchdown receptions on 56 catches in the past two seasons.
