Wisconsin women's basketball rallies past Penn State, off to best Big Ten start in 15 years

MADISON - The Wisconsin women’s basketball team is off its best Big Ten start in 15 years thanks to its second straight comeback victory.

The Badgers erased a nine-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Penn State, 74-73, on Sunday Jan. 4 at the Kohl Center. The victory raised UW’s record to 11-4 overall and 3-1 in the Big Ten.

The last time the Badgers started that well in conference play was the 2010-11 season. UW tied for third with a 10-6 conference record that season.

Junior guard Kyrah Daniels scored eight of her 20 points in the fourth quarter. Senior guard Destiny Howell, who had 17 points, had seven in the fourth quarter.

Junior guard Breuana Ware added 12 points, including a 3-point with the shot clocking running down that gave the Badgers a five-point lead with 72 seconds to play. The bucket capped a 12-0 run that allowed the Badgers to turn around the game.
