Wisconsin landed a commitment from Florida State transfer cornerback Cai Bates on Monday.
Bates entered the portal last week after two years with the Seminoles. He originally joined the program as a four-star recruit in the class of 2024, ranked specifically as the No. 92 player and the No. 14 cornerback in the class. The blue-chip recruit appeared in 10 games as a reserve during his two years in Tallahassee, Florida, totaling two tackles during that time.

Bates joins the Badgers with three years of eligibility remaining. 247Sports specifically ranks him as the No. 344 overall player and No. 34 cornerback in the portal.
The transfer will join a Wisconsin cornerback room that is set to look different in 2026, with Ricardo Hallman off to the NFL draft and Geimere Latimer having transferred to West Virginia. Bates should get a chance to immediately compete for snaps with the starting unit.
