The Las Vegas Raiders have requested a head coaching interview with Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, according to various reports. Kubiak is among the first handful of coaches tied to the Raiders' vacancy. He could emerge as the lead candidate.
Kubiak has complete control over the Seahawks offense as he works for a defensive-minded head coach. The offense finished eighth in yards per game (351.4) during the regular season and third in scoring (28.4). The 14-3 Seahawks won a competitive NFC West division and claimed the No. 1 seed in the conference.

The Seahawks brought Kubiak to Seattle to maximize the performance of quarterback Sam Darnold, who they signed in free agency. Kubiak previously coached Darnold in San Francisco. The occasionally inconsistent quarterback sometimes played at an MVP level this season while leading the Seahawks to 14 wins.
That should matter to a Raiders franchise that is going to select a quarterback at No. 1 overall in the 2026 NFL draft. Whether it's Fernando Mendoza or Dante Moore, Kubiak's resume with quarterbacks makes him an ideal candidate to develop the Raiders' next QB. That should be their top priority.
Kubiak's offense helped Jaxon Smith-Njigba become the NFL's leading receiver this season. The run game has been effective while splitting reps between Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet. Perhaps most notably for the Raiders, a once-bad offensive line has greatly improved under Kubiak in 2025 despite there being few changes in personnel.

Kubiak runs an outside zone offense. He is the father of the legendary Gary Kubiak, who took influence from Mike Shanahan's (Kyle's dad) West Coast Offense. Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty is an excellent fit for the outside zone rushing scheme.
The Raiders should strongly consider making Kubiak their next head coach.
