Louisville women's basketball will open the new year ranked 13th in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll released Tuesday.

The AP Top 25 will return Jan. 5.

The Cardinals (12-3, 2-0 ACC) were off for the Christmas break and return to action Thursday, when they host SMU. The Mustangs concluded nonconference action with three straight wins.

UofL can also build on its résumé, which includes two top-25 wins. Its dominating performance over No. 22 Tennessee helped the squad jump to a projected host 4 seed in the latest ESPN bracketology. The Cardinals haven't hosted the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament since 2022, when they were a No. 1 seed and made the Final Four.
