Warriors' Jimmy Butler shares on-brand response to Kerr's ejection

5 days ago 2

On Monday, January 5, Steve Kerr was ejected from the Golden State Warriors game against the LA Clippers. The incident occurred in the fourth quarter, with the veteran head coach becoming frustrated after the referees missed what he believed was an obvious goaltend.

Kerr quickly received back-to-back technical fouls, leaving Terry Stotts to man the hot seat for the remainder of the game. To add insult to injury, Golden State lost, 102-103. Still, Kerr was somewhat vindicated after the game when  Crew Chief Brian Forte told ClutchPoint's Tom Azarly that Gary Payton's shot did hit the backboard before being touched by John Collins, and therefore, should have been a goaltending call.

"The shot by [Gary]Payton hit the backboard prior to being touched by Collins. It should have been ruled a goaltending violation," Forte said. "The only way it could have been reviewed was if it was called on the floor and the Clippers challenged the call, because it did not occur in the last two minutes of the game."

Still, Kerr's reaction went viral. During his postgame news conference, Jimmy Butler was asked about Kerr's ejection, to which he provided the most on-brand answer possible.

“I haven't (seen that from Kerr in person),” Butler said. “You see it sometimes on the internet, but that was the first time I got to see it face to face. But like I always tell you, I like confrontation when (expletive) start yelling, so that's definitely good.”

Following their loss, the Warriors are one game above .500, and will be looking to make the most of their eight-game home stretch, in the hope of climbing up the Western Conference standings.
