Ty Simpson's recruitment from Tennessee football through the years

Redshirt junior quarterback Ty Simpson completed his fourth season at Alabama in 2025. He was a recruiting target under former Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt.

The Vols offered Simpson a scholarship on June 12, 2018 after attending a camp. He unofficially visited the Vols in 2018 for Tennessee’s football games against Florida and Kentucky at Neyland Stadium.

Simpson also unofficially visited the Vols four times in 2019 for the Orange & White Game, a June school camp and football games against Georgia and Vanderbilt.

His final visit to Tennessee was on March 7, 2020 for junior day.

Simpson appeared in 31 games at Alabama from 2022-25, completing 334-of-523 passing attempts for 3,948 yards, 28 touchdowns and five interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound signal-caller also totaled 223 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 112 attempts.

Simpson is from Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee. His dad, Jason Simpson, is the head coach at UT Martin. Tennessee and head coach Josh Heupel defeated UT Martin, 65-24, on Oct. 22, 2022.
