Tuesday Seacoast Roundup: Portsmouth girls beat Seacoast rival, more

PORTSMOUTH - Lana Vidacic and Jenna Lucy both scored 13 points as the Portsmouth High School girls basketball team beat Seacoast rival Dover, 51-29 on Tuesday, Jan. 6 in a Division I game at Stone Gymnasium.

Portsmouth improved to 4-1 on the season, while Dover is 0-5.

Addie Lane added nine points for Portsmouth, while Leiana Cory had seven and Reese McCauley six. Ali Jabre led Dover with 12 points, and Avery Littlefield had seven.

Cory and Jolie Robichaud starred defensively for the Clippers. Portsmouth led 25-13 at halftime, and took a 38-21 lead into the fourth quarter.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Winnacunnet 48

Manchester Central/West 44

HAMPTON - The Warriors outscored Central/West by eight points in the fourth quarter and earned this Division I win.

Kaila Roy led Winnacunnet with 14 points, while Kaila Roy had 12. Teammates Julie Allan and Izabel Turcotte both scored eight. Both teams are now 1-4.

St. Thomas Aquinas 39

LITCHFIELD - Freshman Mollie Gaynor's game-high nine points led St. Thomas Aquinas (5-0) to this Division III win.

Emma Toriello added eight points for the Saints, while Jules Stowell and Libby Barbour both had seven.

Somersworth 10

SOMERSWORTH - Katelyn Lensky led Somersworth with six points, and Suesue Hamadi had three in this Division III contest.

Marshwood 44

Portland 34

PORTLAND, Maine - Isabelle Tice scored a game-high 21 points as Class B Marshwood beat Class A Portland. Natalie Lathrop added 13 points for the Hawks, while Renee St. Pierre had 10 rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Exeter 69

Windham 42

EXETER - Nate Tomasi had 12 points and Agee Griffith had 10 as Exeter improved to 4-1 with this Division I win.

Tyler Ream added nine points for the Blue Hawks, and Jack Thibodeau had eight. Windham is now 4-2.

St. Thomas Aquinas 52

DOVER - Sophomore Grant Baker had 13 points as St. Thomas Aquinas improved to 5-0 with this Division III win.

"We're looking to be a little more consistent, but we played really good basketball at times tonight" St. Thomas head coach Dave Morissette said.

Senior Brady Livas added 10 points for the Saints.

York 72

YORK, Maine - Robbie Hanscom's 19 points led a trio of Wildcats in double figures in this Class B South win.

Sophomore Henry Mirick added 14 points for York (9-0), while Reece MacDonald had 12.

Portland 76

Marshwood 26

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - Robert Williams led Class B Marshwood (1-6) with 11 points in its loss to Class A Portland.

Traip Academy 47

KITTERY, Maine - Matt Long scored 18 points and Jack Kern added eight for Traip Academy (3-5) in its Class C South game.

Josiah Leighton led Wells with 10.

HAMPTON - Lilah Riley and Rowan Condon both played well for Hampton (3-2). CMS improved to 5-0.
