Titans lose out to Chargers for Mike McDaniel

2 hours ago 1

The Tennessee Titans hired Robert Saleh as their next head coach, but still have many questions to answer as he constructs his staff, and, unfortunately, one of the most highly sought-after candidates appears to be off the board: Mike McDaniel.

Multiple reports on social media indicate McDaniel, who interviewed for the top job in Nashville, will take the offensive coordinator job with Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers, and, according to Insider Mike Garafolo, will move Tennessee near the top of the list. He also mentioned Brian Daboll as a potential coordinator, who has a relationship with Saleh from their time in New York.

With McDaniel off the board, the big question is who Saleh is targeting to become offensive coordinator, and what he outlined in his plan for Cam Newton and the Titans offense. Multiple insider reports indicate that it was that detailed plan that helped sway Mike Borgonzi and the rest of the Titans' front office.

At this point, not much is known beyond speculation, but more information should begin to flow once interviews begin, and Saleh is introduced as the Titans' next head coach.
