The NCAA football transfer portal opened on Jan. 2 and will remain open for two weeks. Although exceptions are made for players who have coaching changes at their school, as well as players participating in the college football playoffs, most players who intend to enter the portal will do so quickly.
There is one significant change this season as the two-week window in January is the only transfer portal window, so there will be more players entering it at this time than in years past. Previously, there was a second portal window that alligned with the end of spring practices.

He sustained a torn ACL in a playoff game at the end of his senior season of high school, so he was unable to play in 2024, but he has yet to play even one snap. Has full eligibility left.
QB Sam Leavitt (So., 6-2, 205): This was Leavitt's second year in the program after transferring from Michigan State. He was limited to seven games due to a foot injury, throwing for 1,628 yards and 10 touchdowns. He last played against Houston on Oct. 25. He had foot surgery during the first week of November. He has two years of eligibility left.
CB Javan Robinson (Jr., 5-11, 180): Robinson has been a starter at corner the last two years (26 games played). In 2025, he totaled 42 tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss, a fumble recovery and eight pass breakups. His marquee moment was a game-saving interception in 2024 against BYU. He was at Washington State for two seasons before he arrived in Tempe. He has one year of eligibility left.
LB Tate Romney (R-Jr., 6-2, 225): Romney, a product of Chandler High School, came to ASU after one year at BYU, in which he redshirted. He has played three seasons for the Sun Devils. His best season was 2023 when he totaled 52 tackles, 1 sack and 4 passes defended. He missed much of 2024 with a broken arm and was used primarily in a reserve role and on special teams in 2025. He is a grad transfer with one season of eligibility left.
