Texas A&M will host Clemson transfer defensive lineman next week

1 week ago 2

It's tough to gauge what Texas A&M's 2026 defensive line will look like if head coach Mike Elko and his staff don't land two to three players from the transfer portal, not just to sure up the depth, but also to add productive veterans who will make an immediate impact, similar to Iowa State transfer Tyler Onyedim during the 2025 season.

With unanimous All-American edge Cashius Howell, defensive tackle Albert Regis, Onyedim, and likely senior edge Daylon Hayes departing, sophomore edge Marco Jones looks like the next player in line to take over as Howell's successor, while Elko and new defensive line coach Elijah Robinson are hoping that DJ Hicks announces his return sooner rather than later.

Either way, additions are needed. Help could be on the way after it was revealed that Clemson sophomore defensive lineman Stephiylan Green, who entered the transfer portal earlier this month, will visit Texas A&M next week, January 6-7, and will also visit LSU, USC, and Miami over the next two weeks.

During the 2025 season, Green recorded 18 tackles and 2.5 sacks while earning a run-defense grade of 76.9, per Pro Football Focus. Standing at 6'4" and 290 pounds, Green possesses the physical attributes to become a pass-rush menace, and with the right coaching staff, the former four-star prospect should be able to reach his potential over the next two seasons.
