Texas A&M's 2026 defensive line will be completely revamped heading into the 2026 season, as the starting rotation, paired with two rotational players, has departed, leading to head coach Mike Elko and his staff landing two defensive linemen from the transfer portal, including San Diego State standout edge Ryan Henderson on Tuesday night.
With senior edge Cashius Howell departing for the 2026 NFL Draft, incoming sophomore Marco Jones looks like the next best option, and while Henderson isn't guaranteed to start, his 6'3", 250-plus pound frame was too intriguing to pass up, and his year by year improvement, especially as a pass rusher, shows a player with immense potential within head coach Mike Elko's defense.

Henderson will also be reunited with incoming senior free safety Marcus Ratcliffe, playing together with the Aztecs during the 2023 season. After recording 3.5 sacks during his first two seasons, Henderson finished the 2025 campaign with 22 tackles, seven sacks, and a pass deflection, while earning impressive Pro Football Focus grades as a pass rusher (74.1).
Texas A&M's defensive line should perform much better against the run under new co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, and Henderson likely won't be the final transfer addition to help shore up the depth in the trenches.
