Terrance Ferguson did something no other Rams rookie has in 35 years

It took some time, but Los Angeles Rams tight end Terrance Ferguson is starting to come into his own.

The second-round rookie hauled in two receptions for 54, including a 27-yard touchdown in the third quarter of the Rams' 27-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17. But more than that, Ferguson broke a 35-year franchise record with his sixth reception of at least 25 yards in a single season for a Rams' rookie tight end.

Ferguson didn't do much to start the season — he registered his first reception in Week 5 — but has become a key target for Matthew Stafford in recent weeks in the wake of injuries to Davante Adams and Tyler Higbee. He caught his first touchdown in Week 7 on a 31-yard strike and has two touchdowns in the past two weeks.

On the season, Ferguson has caught 11 receptions for 231 yards and three touchdowns.

This is what head coach Sean McVay meant when he talked about Ferguson's steady development recently. The rookie tight end has become a much bigger part of the offense recently, including his ability to break open for big games.

The Rams will continue to integrate him into the offense in the final week of the season and likely over the postseason, too.
