Arsenal's squad depth 'unbelievable'

Arsenal's squad depth makes them favourites for the Premier League title, says former Premier League forward Clinton Morrison.

The Gunners stamped their authority as league leaders on Tuesday night with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over in-form Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium.

Their opponents had equalled a club record 11 successive wins before the match, but Arsenal stepped up in the second half, aided by goals from recently returned Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Jesus.

"Their squad depth is a joke - an absolute joke," Morrison told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast.

"That's why they recruited in the summer. They brought in a lot of quality and they've got players like Jesus who has been out for so long. It must have been hard for him

"Since he's come back, he's been so lively and he deserves that goal. He's made a difference in the 10 or 15 minutes that he was on the pitch. When the ball goes up to him, it sticks. He can roll people. I think he's a brilliant, brilliant player.

"But you know what they've got? Competition for places. He's going to be like a new signing. That is why Arsenal are favourites because their squad depth is unbelievable."

Ex-England striker Ellen White agreed, adding: "This really showcased the depth of the Arsenal team.

"Obviously [Declan] Rice was missing but they have also missed [Martin] Odegaard in previous games and Gabriel too. This game has really highlighted the depth that they have and the quality of those players as well."
