Kentucky women’s basketball earned a 74-52 win over Missouri on Sunday at Historic Memorial Coliseum, but the victory was overshadowed by an injury to forward Teonni Key.
Key suffered a dislocated elbow midway through the third quarter while diving for a loose ball. The senior landed awkwardly on top of a Missouri defender and came down hard on her right arm, immediately drawing concern from teammates, coaches, and the crowd. Play was delayed as Key was attended to on the floor before being helped off, and the emotional impact lingered for the remainder of the game.

Before exiting, Key was productive on both ends, posting five points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 22 minutes while finishing as a plus-10. Her presence was a steadying force for Kentucky, particularly on the defensive end and on the glass.
Head coach Kenny Brooks was visibly shaken following the game, emphasizing the human element that comes with moments like this.
“We’re just praying for her right now,” Brooks said. “She dislocated her elbow. All we can do right now is pray for her. She’s a tough kid. This is the part of the game I hate the most. It was a freak play. We’ll continue to pray.”
Despite the emotional setback, Kentucky regrouped to close the third quarter with a 54-40 lead and never allowed Missouri back into the game. The Wildcats showed poise and maturity down the stretch, pulling away in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

The victory improves Kentucky to 15-1 overall and 2-0 in SEC play. Now, however, attention turns to Key’s recovery, as the Wildcats hope for positive news regarding one of their most impactful frontcourt players.
