Philadelphia 76ers rookie VJ Edgecombe said Monday that he has no interest in participating in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest on Feb. 14 in Los Angeles, California.
The response by Edgecombe came after the third pick in the 2025 NBA draft threw down an emphatic dunk, posterizing a defender in a 113-104 win over the Indiana Pacers. The jam electrified the Sixers' bench and the 18,005 spectators on hand at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

Known as a high-flyer, Edgecombe has had quite a highlight reel through his first 37 career games with the Sixers, from soaring chasedown blocks to acrobatic finishes. But Edgecombe won't be putting it on display during All-Star Weekend.
"Yeah, I ain't doing it," Edgecombe said, via PHLY Sixers.
Edgecombe is averaging 15.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 37.7% from 3-point range. He is third among all rookies in scoring and is one of five first-year players to score at least 30 points in a game this season.
The 20-year-old is affecting games at a high level, leading the league in loose-balls recovered (48) and ranking eighth among rookies in contested shots (147). He is also one of three rookies to score at least 20 points in four straight games this season.

Though Edgecombe doesn't appear to be a likely contestant in the Slam Dunk Contest, the former Baylor guard is considered a lock for the Rising Stars Game on Feb. 13 as one of the top rookies.
