Sixers guard VJ Edgecombe ranks No. 3 in current rookie rankings

Philadelphia 76ers guard VJ Edgecombe has been one of the more impressive rookies in the 2025-26 season. The No. 3 overall pick is averaging 15.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 41.7% from the floor and 36.6% from deep.

Edgecombe has constantly shown an ability to shake off slow starts in games and then been able to come up large in the guts of the game. It has been an impressive start to his career and the Sixers have to feel good about his career path if he continues to play this well. He has been terrific in all facets of the game.

The Athletic ranked the top rookies to begin the season and Edgecombe has ranked third behind only Dallas Mavericks forward, and No. 1 overall pick, Cooper Flagg, and Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel.

The focus of the article by The Athletic was on Flagg vs. Knueppel, but it's obvious that Edgecombe has his name in the running for Rookie of the Year. He impacts winning on a number of different levels and will be looking to help the Sixers climb up the standings in the East. He and Tyrese Maxey form one of the top young backcourts in the NBA and the Sixers have to like what they have seen thus far.
