When a team wins 8-1, the forwards usually get a lot of praise. This was the case for Bayern Munich’s forwards Luis Díaz, Michael Olise and Harry Kane after the trio put in spectacular performances against VFL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga to start the team’s year in a brilliant fashion. Díaz and Olise have been likened to Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben while Kane has gotten in-numerous plaudits for his spectacular goal off both the crossbar and post.
The trio have absolutely deserve the praise, without doubt, but head coach Vincent Kompany knows how to maintain a cool head while distributing appropriate appreciation. Asked about the front three after the match, Kompany spread the praise out to the other forwards in the squad: “The guys upfront have high individual quality, that’s just how it is. They’re always a threat. It’s not just them,” Kompany reminded, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “Guerreiro always came on and did well, there’s Lennart Karl, Serge Gnabry, and Jamal [Musial] when he comes back. It’s one of our strengths that we have many players who can score and create.”

For a team that looked short on attacking options and like the offense could be a weak point heading into the season, it now seems as if there is little to nothing that can hold this offense back. Kompany reasonably prefers the middle ground between both extremes. But even he must admit that things are looking quite good at the moment.
