The Philadelphia 76ers have focused their offensive attack on what their guards can do on the perimeter. Obviously, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe are the focus on the perimeter, but when coach Nick Nurse goes to the bench, he can call on Quentin Grimes to give them a spark.
After what had been a tough couple of weeks in terms of finding any type of rhythm, Grimes was able to produce at a high level in a 123-108 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night.

Playing against his former team, Grimes dropped 19 points on 7-for-9 shooting and 5-for-7 from deep while also blocking three shots. When the Sixers get that type of production from the 5-year guard out of Houston, then that changes things for Philadelphia. It takes pressure off Maxey and Edgecombe on the perimeter and allows the floor to be spaced.
"We need that from him night in and night out," Maxey told reporters after the win. "He's kind of like a good wild card for us, you know what I’m saying? He can get hot, he can make 3s, he can drive the ball. He can play defensively, too. That's what's really good for us. He can play with a lot of different lineups, too, which is really good."
As the Sixers move forward, Grimes is going to play a big role for this group. It's important that he is involved in everything this team does on the offensive end. He has an important skill set in terms of his ability to rise up and shoot the ball over defenders as well as an ability to move without the ball to find open spots on the floor for catch-and-shoot chances. That's something Philadelphia needs to exploit.
