The Philadelphia 76ers are back in the win column following Tuesday's 139-136 thrilling overtime win over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Sixers snapped a 3-game losing streak and were able to get things back on track in the right direction as they moved back up to the No. 5 seed in the East.

The Sixers received another clutch performance from rookie guard VJ Edgecombe. The No. 3 overall pick scored 25 points with 16 coming in the fourth quarter and overtime and he drilled the game-winning triple with 1.7 seconds left to lift the Sixers to a much-needed win.

"VJ has been telling us for probably, like, three weeks that he deserves to get to shoot one game-winner," Tyrese Maxey told reporters after the win. "Like, at the end of the game, like ‘Everybody has shot one! Let me shoot one!’ He shot one and he made it."

The Sixers ran a guard-guard screen action as Maxey looked to turn the corner and get to the rim. However, when the Grizzlies put two on the ball, Edgecombe was able to slip out for an open shot, which led to Maxey making the right decision and finding an open Edgecombe who drilled the 3-pointer.

Maxey trusts Edgecombe and implemented something new before the final play.

"I said ‘OK’. I trust him," Maxey added. "Even that play, at first we were gonna go 4-flat. I said ‘Listen, let’s try something. Come up, set a screen, see if they put two on the ball, if they put two on the ball, slip out, shoot the 3 and make it.’ And that’s what happened."

Maxey and Edgecombe have formed one terrific tandem in the backcourt. Opposing teams have had a tough time really slowing them down and that's been a problem from the jump. The Sixers have been able to be successful due to the fact that those two have been terrific against any defense the opposition throws at them.

The road trip continues on New Year's Day when the Sixers take on the Dallas Mavericks.
