There was something special about the way Seth Joyner played the game of football. Every snap of his eight seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles was played like his life depended on them. Since retiring, he landed a gig as an analyst at NFL Network during its early days, but these days, he's back where he belongs, in the City of Brotherly Love and talking about the team that drafted him.
On Mondays during the pro football season, he sits in with 94 WIP-FM's Morning Team to talk a little ball. During his most recent visit, he gave the Jalen Hurts detractors an earful.

If you're late to the party, here's what you missed. The criticism hasn't lessened. Every throw is dissected. This season, fans have gone so far as to say the offense would be in better hands if led by Tanner McKee.
Now, there are many moving parts here. Minimal snaps and playing with a supporting cast loaded with backups in Week 18 qualify. Still, after a less-than-stellar performance by McKee in the Eagles' regular-season finale, those calls for Hurts' job have quieted some.
Joyner scolded the contingent asking for Hurts' demotion with a fiery take on Monday morning.
Joyner isn't everyone's cup of tea, but he's fair. He's like a mean uncle. You don't always want to invite him to the barbecue, but now and again, those tirades provide us with a bit of truth serum.

What is most appreciated about Joyner is his honesty. He isn't searching for hot takes to move the needle. He gives credit where it's due and avoids giving credit when constructive criticism is more appropriate.
The fact of the matter is this. Jalen Hurts isn't perfect. He never will be. He also deserves better than some of what is said about him, and any conversation that ends with McKee being a better quarterback is the verbal equivalent of striking out on three consecutive pitches.
