Saquon Barkley, key Eagles rave about practice squad LB set to make his debut

Week 18 in the NFL is about division rivals competing for final playoff spots, key players earning bonuses, and practice squad (scout team) performers getting their shot under the bright lights. The Eagles are going to rest Jalen Hurts and key starters, opening the door for reserves and guys on the practice squad to get meaningful snaps in a game and a nice regular-season check.

One player to watch on Sunday afternoon against Washington is veteran defensive player Chance Campbell.

Zach Berman of The Athletic recently wrote a terrific article examining the best scout team player (practice squad) on the Eagles roster, and it was the veteran linebacker by a wide margin.

(Pointing to linebacker Chance Campbell’s locker) “See this motherf—er right there? Really good. Like, probably one of the best scout team players I’ve ever gone against in my life.”

Barkley, Jordan Mailata, Cam Jurgens, Brett Toth, Tyler Steen, Jahan Dotson, Moro Ojomo, and Jihaad Campbell made Chance Campbell the overwhelming pick.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Campbell back on August 20 at the end of training camp.

A sixth-round pick of Tennessee in 2022, Campbell missed his rookie season with a knee issue. The Ole Miss product played in four games with the Titans in 2023, appearing on 62 special-teams snaps and five defensive snaps. Campbell (knee) tried out for the Bears in July and looks healthy after tearing his ACL last August with the Titans, which forced him to miss the 2024 campaign.
