Who needs champagne and confetti to ring in the New Year? More than 4,300 runners laced up their sneakers for the annual New York Road Runners Midnight Run in Central Park.
Two of the thousands who participated in the sold-out run included our very own sports anchor Sam Ryan. She completed the four-mile race.

Eyewitness News anchor Liz Cho also ran with her daughter, Lulu. It looked like they had a great time out there.
This year's race featured several festive, on-course entertainment activations to celebrate the New Year, including a sparkling cider fluid station, DJs at the start and finish and on the course, and fluorescent race bibs that created a new Midnight Run Glow Tunnel experience.
As they raced through the park, athletes enjoyed a front-row view of a dazzling fireworks display.
Congratulations to Liz, Sam, and all of the runners who participated.
