Former Germany team manager and striker Oliver Bierhoff is a candidate for SV Hamburg's vacant sporting director job, German media reports said on Tuesday.
The sudden exit of former Germany team mate Stefan Kuntz at the Bundesliga side has opened up a possible opportunity for Bierhoff, who has been out of the game since being sacked following Germany's second straight group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup.

Sport Bild said the 57-year-old's name is being discussed by Hamburg's board and other media agreed.
Bierhoff, who has been advising NFL team the New England Patriots of late, played for Hamburg 1988-89.
