Michigan football is working diligently to retain the players already on the roster, but what about those who were seen earlier in the season as likely departures regardless of the coaching change?
If the latest report turns out to be true, the Wolverines could easily have the best running backs room in the country. Despite losing Bryson Kuzdzal and Jasper Parker to the transfer portal, the Wolverines have Jordan Marshall returning (he confirmed at his Citrus Bowl press conference) and incoming five-star freshman Savion Hiter, the top running back recruit in the country. Justice Haynes, who was injured for half the season in 2025, was thought to be an NFL draft entry; however, it appears he's eyeing a return to Ann Arbor.

According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, Haynes is 'strongly considering returning to college,' which would give Kyle Whittingham and offensive coordinator Jason Beck even more options to revamp the offense.
Haynes appeared in seven of Michigan's 13 games last season, having first gotten injured in the sixth contest of the year, at USC. He returned vs. Michigan State, but sustained a foot injury that required surgery.
Despite having played in just seven games, Haynes rushed for over 100 yards in six of them, with the only one not eclipsing that number having been the game he was initially injured in, vs. the Trojans.
