Per HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Boston Celtics have interest in Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac. Even before the start of the 2025-26 NBA season, there was an awareness that the Celtics likely needed frontcourt depth. The level of concern has of course subsided with Neemias Queta looking like a legitimate starting center and Luka Garza able to impact games positively with the right matchups. But even now, there are very real concerns about whether that duo plus whatever small ball concoctions head coach Joe Mazzulla can devise will be enough to compete deep into the postseason in a league where big men and big rosters demand more size than ever from contenders.
Cue the green eyes for Zubac (multiple puns intended) from Boston fans and Celtics analysts alike, which has subsided a bit once people started thinking logically about what the Clippers would likely ask for the player on their team who likely has the most trade value ahead of an all-but-certain retooling offseason. And now, thanks to Scotto's reporting, we have our first evidence that Los Angeles is indeed asking for a hefty price to part ways with their elite big.

"During earlier trade inquiries, it would have taken at least two first-round picks for the Clippers to consider parting with Zubac," relates the HoopsHype reporter, who notes that, along with Boston, the Indiana Pacers have also been asking about the Clippers center (check out a recent episode linked here or below of "Havlicek Stole the Pod" for additional analysis).
