Real Madrid winger has ‘fully recovered’ from his injury – report

Injury cut short Franco Mastantuono’s decent start to life at Real Madrid, forcing the player to spend months on the sidelines in the hope of a speedy recovery.

As is the nature of pubalgia, however, the Argentine sensation did not experience much relief even with the passing weeks, and his time on the sidelines only went on stretching.

Initially diagnosed with the injury around the time Real Madrid beat Valencia in early November, he stayed out of the squad for an entire month and returned to the bench against Girona in early December.

Fully recovered

Despite returning to the squad against the Catalans, Mastantuono was not fielded much by Alonso, likely owing to a lingering discomfort.

He played just eight minutes against Alaves and 66 against Talavera – and that was all of his minutes last month.

Now, as relayed by MARCA, Mastantuono has 100% recovered from his pubalgia and no longer feels any discomfort in his pelvis. Needless to say, that comes as a massive boost to Xabi Alonso and co.

Real Madrid do not plan to bring in any new attackers in the winter, and currently find themselves relatively strapped for options in the department.

Kylian Mbappe’s injury, Brahim Diaz’s AFCON duty and Endrick’s departure, after all, reduce the depth.

It could, thus, be time for Mastantuono to shine and prove his worth once more, building on his already decent start to life in Madrid.

The possibility of a departure in January was never really considered by Real Madrid or the player, despite several parties being interested, and it is clear that Los Blancos have Mastantuono in both their short-term and long-term plans.

There will, however, have to be caution exercised while reintroducing him to the field after a long hiatus.
