Sunday’s rivalry battle between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders carries some high personal stakes for players on both sides.

The Eagles have an incentive on the line for their star running back, Saquon Barkley. An 87-yard game could earn Barkley a six-figure payout. The star rusher is likely to miss out.
As expected, the Eagles are going to rest quite a few players against the Commanders this week. They already have a ticket to the playoffs, which led Nick Sirianni to roll with this logic: the Eagles can’t guarantee getting the second seed—but they can guarantee rest and good health.
Philadelphia will take the safest bet, and one has to assume that resting Barkley is the right play, considering how important he was to the Super Bowl run just one year ago.
On the other side, the Commanders have two key veterans in search of bonus payouts. The veteran wideout Deebo Samuel is one of them.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Samuel needs 10 catches to acquire a $200,000 bonus. If he can rack up 93 yards in the receiving game, he’ll add $200,000 to the pot. Then, there’s one more: two touchdowns will get him one more $250,000 payout.
The race for $650,000 will be a tall task for Samuel on Sunday. Although he has multiple games with at least 10 targets, he doesn’t have any 10-catch outings. His season-high is set at eight.
As for yards, Samuel has exceeded 90 yards just one time this year, during the Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. He has five total touchdowns this year. Not a single week included multiple scores for Samuel.
When the Eagles and the Commanders met two weeks back, Samuel caught three passes for 35 yards.

The edge rusher Von Miller is the other notable veteran with an incentive on the line against the Eagles. All it takes is just one sack for Miller to earn $500,000. Once an NFL sack master, Miller has eight sacks on the year in 2025. He hasn’t exceeded eight in a single season since 2021.
In his last game against the Eagles, Miller came up with just two tackles. Neither of them was sacks.
The Eagles and the Commanders are slated for a 4:25 PM ET kickoff.
