A video, with an awfully familiar font, pans into the Keep Pounding drum—and plays a few sound bites from general manager Dan Morgan and head coach Dave Canales. But there's a third, very distinct voice that follows.
Take a look and a listen . . .
That, of course, is the voice of franchise legend Cam Newton—who has been rumored as Saturday's Keep Pounding drummer. Joe Person of The Athletic reported the following on the possibility earlier today:
The Panthers have reached out to Cam Newton about beating the Keep Pounding drum before their wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams and are optimistic the most iconic player in franchise history will attend, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
Panthers fans, since the team clinched the NFC South title on Sunday, have been clamoring for Newton to kick off this weekend's playoff game at Bank of America Stadium—and it seems like they have gotten their wish.
