Edward Cabrera is set to come to the Windy City from the Miami Marlins, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale. But the return price is high: It looks like it'll be top prospect Owen Caissie.
It's all pending Cabrera's physical, according to Nightengale.
Caissie is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in Chicago's organization by MLB.com, which ranks him as the No. 49 overall prospect in the sport.
The 6-foot-3, 23-year old Canadian made his MLB debut in 2025 and played in 12 games, going 5-for-26 with one home run.

Caissie was clearly a star at Triple-A Iowa in 2025 before his call-up. He batted .286 with 28 doubles, two triples, 22 home runs, 55 RBI and five stolen bases in 99 games. He had a .937 OPS in that stint.

Caissie has played all three outfield spots, and he'll surely slot right into Miami's Opening Day starting lineup.
Cabrera is a great player to get, a 27-year old right-hander who just had a 3.53 ERA. But he's also not viewed as an ace-level pitcher, and the Cubs may have given up a future star to get him.
Chicago decided the price was worth it. But there's a chance this deal backfires.
