Oregon Ducks interested in true freshman EDGE Jayden Woods, per report

1 week ago 2

True freshman EDGE Jayden Woods burst onto the scene in 2025 with the Florida Gators, standing out as one of the top young pass rushers in the country. But now, after head coach Billy Napier was fired and replaced by Tulane's Jon Sumrall, Woods may be looking for a new home as he recently entered his name into the transfer portal.

Never afraid to put young talent on the field if they've proven that they're ready, the Oregon Ducks are reportedly interested in Woods, along with Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Ohio State. Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, a return to Florida is still on the table.

Woods was a four-star recruit in the 2025 class, ranking as the No. 10 EDGE and No. 90 player overall coming out of Shawnee, KS. Now in the portal, he's ranked as the No. 2 EDGE and No. 7 player overall after proving that he can get it done on the field with the potential for more.

Though he only started two games, Woods appeared in all 12 for the Gators, totaling 27 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and an interception. His 3.5 sacks tied for the team lead.

Oregon's front four has had a solid season thus far, and there's a chance that all four come back. Defensive tackle Bear Alexander has already announced his intentions of returning, while fellow defensive tackle A'Mauri Washington and edge rushers Teitum Tuioti and Matayo Uiagalelei all have decisions to make.

Regardless of if they all come back or don't, the addition of Woods would greatly aid a pass rush that ranked in the bottom half of the FBS in total sacks during the regular season.
