One Pro Bowl Eagles defender offers high praise for another

Maybe we're the problem. Perhaps we ask for too much. We expect the Philadelphia Eagles to play unhinged, especially on defense, but we also expect them to turn it off when the whistle blows and back on for the next play.

Maybe we're overthinking this. Those aren't high expectations. That's the game of football. Plays last for about ten seconds. Players huddle. Then, they have to run headfirst into a car wreck again. Sometimes, emotions carry past the whistle. Wait... Does that mean we should be more patient with Jalen Carter?

Before he even arrived in Philadelphia, he had earned a reputation: phenomenal player, sometimes misunderstood, and prone to taking things one step too far. This season, he has battled adversity and injury, but his Week 17 performance gave reason to believe the guy we thought was the most talented in the 2023 NFL Draft was back to his old self.

Zack Baun gives kudos to Jalen Carter after a top-tier performance.

The Pro Bowl roster was announced, and this time around, five Eagles were on the list. Zack Baun and Jalen Carter, First and Second-Team All-Pros last season, were on the list.

These guys have been nothing short of remarkable since joining the organization. Both have their fingerprints all over several wins this season. Week 17's victory over the Buffalo Bills provided a showcase of Carter's game-wrecking ability.

The guy in the Number 98 jersey added a sack and a tackle-for-loss to the cause. He also blocked a Bills extra-point attempt on special teams. That proved huge as Philly claimed victory by a one-point margin.

NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark caught up with Zack Baun after the contest. As you might expect, one of the captains on defense had nothing but high praise for his teammate.

Vic Fangio's unit is loaded with talent. Second-year Eagles Cooper DeJean and Quinyon Mitchell are Pro Bowlers too. These guys are fun to watch when they get on a roll, and if Carter is getting healthier with the postseason nearing, we could enjoy quite the run by the guys in green. Dare we say it? If the offense can find consistent traction, this could turn out to be a special season after all.
