With Ruben Amorim out the door, Darren Fletcher will take interim charge of Manchester United against Burnley this evening.

Fletcher, who took Sir Alex Ferguson’s blessing before accepting the role, was coaching United’s under-18s before Amorim’s departure. Former United defender Jonny Evans has been called in to assist Fletcher for the tricky away fixture.

However, United are actively working to put a more experienced figure at the helm, at least until the end of the campaign.

United have reportedly held talks with a number of candidates, including Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, over the caretaker role at Old Trafford.

Carrick, who most recently managed Middlesbrough was part of the Norwegian’s backroom staff between 2018 and 2021.

Solskjaer is a hugely popular figure in Manchester. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming his appointment has the backing of several superstars, including skipper Bruno Fernandes and former captain Harry Maguire, who once labelled him as “unbelievable”.

Now, it seems United are leaning towards bringing back Solskjaer.
