Oklahoma TE Carson Kent plans to enter the transfer portal

1 week ago 2

The Oklahoma Sooners are losing Jaren Kanak to the NFL draft, and a couple of days before the official opening of the transfer portal, tight end Carson Kent is planning to enter the portal, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Kent was a transfer portal signing from a year ago, but never caught on in the Oklahoma Sooners offense. He was a reserve player as converted linebacker Jaren Kanak emerged as the starter ahead of Week 1. Kent also ceded snaps to Kaden Helms.

In 13 games with the Sooners, Kent caught just three passes for 26 yards and wasn't all that effective as a run blocker.

He'll have two more years of eligibility available.

The Sooners needed to find reinforcements in the portal even before Kent's departure. The players remaining on the depth chart, Trynae Washington, Kade McIntyre, and John Locke Jr., along with incoming signees Tyler Ruxer and Ryder Mix, don't have much collegiate production to their names, if any.
