Kaizer Chiefs have completed the signing of young midfielder Xhosa Manyana on a six-month loan deal from Cape Town City.

The 20-year-old came through the Citizens' youth set-up and had a loan spell with FC Cincinnati 2 in the Major League Soccer (MLS) Next Pro, the third tier of American football, last season.

Manyana was yet to feature for City in the Motsepe Foundation Championship upon his return from the loan stint.

He is set to turn out for Chiefs' Dstv Diski Challenge (DDC) team as the Soweto giants aim to defend their title - but could challenge for a spot in the senior team.

“We felt the need to augment our DDC squad for the latter part of the season, and we are delighted to bring in a player like Xhosa to supplement the talent we already have within our reserve team structure,” Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr told the club's media department.

"We welcome Xhosa to Kaizer Chiefs and look forward to seeing the best of his undoubted abilities.

Chiefs sit fifth on the reserve league standings, having picked up 26 points from 14 matches following their convincing victory over Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend.

Amakhosi trail runaway log leaders and bitter rivals Orlando Pirates by 11 points, with Roscoe Krieling's men seven points clear at the halfway mark.
