EAST RUTHERFORD - The New York Giants are set to conduct the fifth head coaching search for the organization since Tom Coughlin's exit following the 2015 season.

And consider this: the Giants have not hired a head coach with a defensive background since Bill Parcells.

The Giants have been in the market for a new coach since Brian Daboll was fired Nov. 10. And while general manager Joe Schoen was tabbed to run point on the search, the interview process is set to kick into high gear this week.

That will happen this week for the Giants, the Titans and the Falcons, all of whom have vacancies, and there could be others depending on what transpires in the near future now that the 2025 regular season has ended.

Keep checking back throughout the Giants' process for updates, the latest news and rumors, and analysis:

Will John Harbaugh leave Ravens, emerge as a candidate?

Did the missed field goal that secured the AFC North title for the Steelers put Ravens head coach John Harbaugh in play as a candidate for the Giants' job?

No one knows for sure what the future holds for Super Bowl-winning head coaches Harbaugh in Baltimore or Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but there has been speculation this week that the one that loses what amounts to the AFC North title game could be on the market.

And if that were to happen, even if one of Tomlin or Harbaugh would command interest from TV for a year where either would be undefeated, the Giants should have either one at the top of their list of candidates to replace Daboll.

Now that potential candidate is Harbaugh, whose team's scandal involving former All-Pro kicker Justin Tucker caught up to them when rookie Tyler Loop - Tucker's replacement - missed a potential game-winning 44-yard kick on Sunday night.

Remains to be seen if the speculation regarding Harbaugh's future in Baltimore is just that, or if the smoke over the past two years is more fire than anyone anticipates. If the 63-year-old Super Bowl winner shakes free from a franchise he has led since 2008, the Giants are an intriguing landing spot if Harbaugh wants back in the game immediately.
